May 11, 2007. #1. On the photo pages I posted a few pictures of a 75' Ash that I had cut down last year with a little Echo chainsaw. This saw was new when I first used it on this tree and in my humble opinion the Echo was worth it's weight in gold. Some specs of interest. The model # is CS-440 it has a 45 cc motor and an 18" bar.It's about $9.00 / gal. It works great in moderate temps. If it gets below about 30F , cut it with a little 20w hyd oil to keep it flowing well. IMHO, there is no need to spend the big bucks on STIHL winter grade bar / chain oil or equiv.The 592 will definitely have the upper hand in terms of fuel economy, it's a strato engine design with gen 3 autotune. But there's no replacement for displacement, and you have to match the saw to the wood. A 562xp would outrun a 395xp in small wood. A 572xp could outrun a 395xp in medium wood. Personally I like to run bars that are on the short side of my saws' capability, so I generally run 16" bars on 50cc saws.
